Statement of the Worker-Communist Party of Iraq on Hamas’s Recent Operation in Israel
This morning, October 7, 2023, Hamas carried out a military operation inside Israel by land, sea and air, which resulted in the killing of many Israeli soldiers and the capture of a number of them along with a number of settlers, and the Israeli government responded by declaring a comprehensive war for the first time sincethe October War in 1973 on Hamas and the Gaza Strip.
The political factors behind what is happening now in Israel and Palestine are the blockage of the political horizon for a just solution to the Palestinian issue and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that ends more than seven decades of blatant national injustice and racist policies of the fascist State of Israel.
The latest of which was the Saudi crown prince’s press statements on Fox News, about his country’s rapprochement with Israel and “the need for Israel to play its important role in the region,” putting the Arab peace initiative formulated by Saudi Arabia at the beginning of the third millennium aside, and before those statements, the so-called Abraham Accords were concluded between the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, Morocco and Israel. In addition to local factors, the competition between Hamas and Islamic Jihad to lead the political scene in Palestine to remain in the equation of the Palestinian Authority and to monopolize it.
The daily crimes committed against the Palestinian people by the Israeli army and security forces, including the confiscation of Palestinian land, the construction of settlements on it, the cold-blooded killing of many innocent Palestinian masses in the Jenin area and elsewhere, and the imposition of an unjust economic blockade on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for nearly two decades, with the support and incitement of the reactionary religious right, which is no less fascist than the security forces, give the Palestinians the right to take appropriate means in response to those crimes. The first and last responsible for the bloody war between Israel and Hamas and before it the Islamic Jihad, the price of which is paid by innocent people on both sides, is the disregard of the criminal State of Israel for all its successive right-wing and “leftist” governments, and its international supporters, especially the United States of America and its allies in the European Union, who beautify the face of the brutality of the State of Israel in international forums and unconditionally defend it, and portray it as an “oasis of democracy and human rights” in the Middle East and turn a blind eye to all its crimes against the masses of Palestine. In order for Israel to be their tool to implement their policy in the region. The repercussions of this war, which Hamas declared on Israel, will add a new asset to the reactionary right-wing currents in Israel and the region, and will provide justifications and arguments for committing more crimes against innocent Palestinian masses, and causing more victims on both sides of the conflict. Hamas’ military operation or war declared by the Government of Israel is an extension of the ongoing conflict between the fascist Israeli occupation state and a current of bourgeois and reactionary political Islam, a current that pursues its narrow political interests even at the expense of massacres of civilians, not to mention its agenda hostile to the masses of Palestine itself. The on going war will not prevent
reactionary Israeli governments from pursuing a policy other than land nibbling, building settlements and killing innocent people under the pretext of fighting terrorism, more casualties are falling on both sides of the conflict.

The ongoing war will not prevent Israel’s reactionary governments from pursuing a policy other than that of nibbling land, building settlements and killing innocent people under the pretext of fighting terrorism. Ending the cycle of violence, wars and the killing of innocent people and building a secure and peaceful society can only be achieved by Israel ceasing its occupation of Palestine, ending the national injustice against the masses of Palestine and establishing its independent state.
